US HealthVest Begins Construction Near Atlanta, GA

Monroe Behavioral Hospital

US HealthVest began construction of Georgia’s Newest Behavioral Hospital, a 70-bed hospital in Monroe, Georgia, a suburb east of Atlanta. The hospital will serve children, adolescents and adults in the Atlanta-Athens corridor and will provide a full continuum of behavioral health and addiction treatment services. The hospital carries a certificate of need and will be located at 709 Breedlove Drive in Monroe, Georgia.

“The greater Atlanta area has an unmet need for psychiatric services and our experienced management team is looking forward to bringing a full range of specialized psychiatric care to area residents,” said Richard Kresch, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer.

US HealthVest will renovate, reuse and upgrade the former Walton Regional Medical Center, a currently vacant hospital. The three-story, 76,000 square foot hospital will include semi-private patient rooms, large group therapy rooms, an outpatient clinic and support space including a pharmacy and food service administration. Multiple indoor and outdoor recreational activity areas will also be available. The hospital’s mechanical and electrical systems will have the latest in energy preservation and efficiency.

US HealthVest will bring about 200 jobs to the area. Construction started in October 2015 with an anticipated hospital opening in late 2016.
